Agustín Oria de Rueda, native from Vega de Pas (Cantabria), was settled in Requena (Valencia) in 1820.
He started in the silk business but later he moved into the world of wine.
NATIONAL ARTISTIC MONUMENT
In 1897 Jose Oria de Rueda and Iñigo (son of Agustin) ordered the winery and the House-Palace of Torre Oria to be built by Jose Donderis, a famous Valencian architect. It was built in the term of El Derramdor, near Requena, which it is the current headquarter of the wineries. Thus, a small seder was transformed into the fantastic Oria de Rueda House-Palace, today declared National Artistic Monument.
The first half of the XX century the winery goes happily well
In 1981 the winery is updated and optimized to begin its growth and international expansion. It could be said, that was the beginning of the type of winery that we know today.
QUALITY CAVA BY RIGHT
Bodegas Torre Oria is distinguished for being the first winery located outside Penedés Region elaborating sparkling wines under the Appellation of Origin Cava.
Thanks to this, nowadays, around ten million bottles of Cava are produced in Requena area every year, providing a great added value to the region.
A PROJECT IN CONTINUOUS EXPANSION
In 2012 Eloy Bautista, current owner and general manager of the winery, implements a new very ambitious business model focused on achieving consumer satisfaction.
